Sponsorship and Finding a Sponsor
Sponsorship is one of the Nine Tools of Recovery From Compulsive Overeating, and many people find both being a sponsor and having a sponsor a very necessary and rewarding part of their recovery program.
These resources provide guidance on how to get started and maintain a productive relationship with a sponsor or sponsee. If you have questions, please email our Sponsorship and Newcomers Co-Chairs at: newcomer@oasf.org; or call or text 415-236-0126. You can also reach out to any members you see or meet at a meeting. Often asking other members to share their experience, strength, and hope about sponsoring is the best way to get great information and support!
Finding a Sponsor and Being a Sponsee
As it states in the Tools of Recovery description of Sponsorship…”We ask a sponsor to help us through our program of recovery on all three levels: physical, emotional, and spiritual. Find a sponsor who has what you want and ask that person how he or she is achieving it.”
